How to Install a TV Under the Bay in a Motorhome

Motorhomes are rolling homes on wheels, inside of which are sleeping rooms, showers, toilets, kitchens and storage bays. For certain classes of RV, such as class Cs, there is a storage bay above the cab. This makes a good place to mount a flat screen TV, where it stores up and out of the way during drives, but folds down when the motorhome is parked.

Things You'll Need

  • Flat screen TV swivel/slide mount kit
  • Power drill with sockets
  • Measuring tape

Instructions

    • 1

Hold the mounting bracket for the TV up to the underside of the bay. Mark the holes on the bracket to the ceiling of the bay.

    • 2

Drill the holes in the bay ceiling. Align the bottom bracket plate to the holes and drill it into the bay ceiling.

    • 3

Attach any slides or swivels to the bracket base plate on the bay ceiling. Use a mount that has a fold-up system, letting the TV go flat against the ceiling of the bay when it is not being used. Drill in the side locks. Locks slide over the TV on the motorhome mount, so when the TV is pushed up against the bay ceiling, they slide over the sides of it, securing it up to the bay.

Pull the mount down so the arm is in the downward position. With a friend if possible, lift the TV up onto the arm. Drill in the retaining screws to the back of the TV. Run any satellite TV cords or DVD cords to the back of the TV and plug them into the TV. Plug the TV into one of the motorhome wall sockets.

    • 5

Push the TV and bracket arm up to the ceiling of the bay and slide the locks over the sides of the TV until you are ready to use it.
