How to Maximize Storage in an RV

Adding the right kind of storage to the inside of your RV can make things a whole lot roomier. You'll be more comfortable and be able to bring more stuff along for the ride. Follow these steps to maximize storage in your rig.

Instructions

    • 1

Look around your rig for wasted space. If you think about it, there are cabinets that make no sense or are too deep to find anything.

    • 2

Build compartments into the stairs that head up to the fifth-wheeler bedroom. They are usually hollow. Cut into the carpet and built wooden compartments that fit into the stairs. This will create space to store things like shoes or small tools.

    • 3

Add compartments under the bed. Lift up the bed and you'll see all the wasted space below. Build two drawer compartments to put clothing in. Cut out squares on the side of the bed frame so you can pull them out when needed.

    • 4

Rework the insides of the kitchen and bedroom cabinets. Add shelves and drawers to make the storage more compatible to your needs.

    • 5

Replace your pantry shelves with drawers. By ripping out the shelves and adding slides and drawers, you'll be able to access your food much easier.

    • 6

Add a canvas bag with compartments for shoes to the back of the bathroom door. Instead of using the over-the-door hooks that came with it, screw it to the door.
