Train Vacations From Pittsburgh

An overlooked, but relaxing and scenic way to travel from Pittsburgh is via train, especially since the city has it's own Amtrak station. Amtrak, a government-owned corporation, is an intercity passenger train with routes all over the United States. There are many different destinations to choose from that run from Pittsburgh, which you can easily book online.

The Rail & Cruise Travel Center has a variety of vacation routes for either longer or shorter day-trip excursions in the surrounding area of Pittsburgh as well.
  1. Pennsylvanian

    • Amtrak offers the Pennsylvanian route, which is a Northeast regional vacation. The major cities of this route are New York and Pittsburgh. With this train, as with all super-line Amtrak trains, you have the option to upgrade to sleeping accommodations, which then includes the price of meals and provides the same amenities as a hotel would.

    Capitol Limited Route

    • The Capitol Limited route is also available through Amtrak. The region that this liner goes through serves the Midwest and the Northeast. This particular route runs through several major cities. The major cities along this route are Washington DC, Pittsburgh and Chicago. As it is a longer trip, it has the sleeping accommodations available to passengers. This again, offers complimentary meals and hotel amenities. Bathrooms and showers on the train are public.

    Pennsylvania Weekender

    • Through the Rail & Cruise Travel Center, you can book a train ride that runs throughout the Keystone State. This train ride runs between New York City, New Jersey and Pittsburgh. They offer roundtrip travel with first-class accomodations, for up to three nights. Meals are complimentary with an afternoon tea and bar and beverage service available while en route. The tour itself journeys through Phildelphia, Dutch Country and Harrisburg over the Allegheny mountains on it's way to Pittsburgh.
