How to Mount Saddlebags

Saddlebags are twin leather sacks attached to the sides of motorcycles behind the seat. The bags have straps and buckles to stay securely shut even on the bumpiest of motorcycle rides. The bags are installed by taking the seat off of the motorcycle and drilling the bag mount onto the seat pan, then replacing the seat on top to ensure that the bags do not come off while riding, which would create a hazard on the road.

Instructions

    • 1

Use the ratchet to remove the restraining bolts on the motorcycle seat and remove the seat from the body of the bike. Place the saddle bag mount directly over top of the seat pan where the seat used to lay.

    • 2

In the four corners of the mount, drill the 4-inch screws directly into the mount, and into the seat pan until the mount is firmly attached without any wiggle or looseness. Make sire the leather of the saddle bags is not touching the exhaust pipe or any of the exposed metal engine parts.

Place the seat back onto the pan, now having the bag mount in between them. Settle the seat above the bolt casings and use the ratchet to tighten the seat back to the motorcycle. Fill the saddle bags with any cargo needed.
