How to Wire an ISO 7638
ISO 7638 cables are a standard type of brake controller used to attach commercial trucks to a coupling trailer, such as those set up on tractor trailers or "18 wheelers." The ISO 7638 connects the rear of the truck to the front of a trailer using ISO7 7638 ports. The connection sends various controls from the truck drive train to the trailer such as braking. Wiring a ABS or antilock brake cable to an ISO 7638 plug requires you to match the colored wires in the cable to numbered pins on the plug.

1
Unravel the colored wires on the ABS cable ends.
-
2
Place the wire stripper jaws 1/2 inch down the plastic tip of a colored wire and pull the plastic away. This leaves the naked copper wire exposed. Repeat this process for each wire in the cable. Twist the wires between your fingers to alleviate magnetic fields caused by electricity in the wire.
