Green Mountain Park Resort, located near the Blue Ridge Mountains, is a membership campground open to nonmembers from November until Easter weekend. You can camp in a tent, RV or cabin and enjoy fishing and boating on Green Lake, located just behind the park's community hall. The resort has an activity director who plans activities like bingo, card games and crafts for all ages. Weekends feature entertainment such as live music and square dancing. Golfers can enjoy a nine-hole golf course or two mini-golf courses. Those who love to be in the water can enjoy the outdoor pool and children's pool.

Optimistic RV Resort is an adults-only campground located about 30 minutes southwest of Lenoir. It has full-service sites for RV campers, two furnished rental cabins and a three-bedroom lodge that sleeps up to 10 people. Rates for RV sites in 2010 range from $25 to $30 a night. Sites are available with water and electric service, full hookups, and full hookups with 50-amp electric service. Resort amenities include restrooms with hot showers, laundry facilities and Internet availability. Pets on leashes are permitted. The resort has a creek for swimming and fishing, and sells firewood and ice to make your stay more comfortable.

Steele Creek Park is a family-friendly campground located 30 minutes southwest of Lenoir. The park offers RV sites, tent sites and cabins. Nightly rates for RV sites with 50-amp service in 2010 range from $25 to $29, depending on the day of the week. On-site recreation includes a water slide, game room, mini-golf course, swimming pool and Steele Creek for fishing and swimming. There is also a snack bar and camp store. Small pets are allowed if kept on leashes. The park does not accept credit or debit cards for payment.
