Cheapest Florida Campgrounds

Florida is a popular destination for people from all over the world to see the state's beautiful scenery, visit major attractions such as Disney World and Universal Studios and to enjoy outdoor activities like hiking, scuba diving, boating and fishing. State parks and campgrounds offer plenty of inexpensive options for tent and recreational vehicle campers. Some sites can be reserved in advance, but you'll need to get there early for others, as they are first-come, first-served.
  1. Ocean Pond Campground-Osceola National Forest

    • The Ocean Pond Campground in Osceola National Forest has 67 combined tent and RV campsites. Nineteen of the sites have water and electrical hook-ups. An additional 28 have water hook-ups only. The campground is equipped with potable water, a dump station, showers and restroom facilities. Ocean Pond is actually a large, 1,760-acre lake, which offers a playground and public telephones on-site as well. Guests can swim, fish, raft, water ski and kayak. Sailing, boating and power boating are allowed. The park also contains part of the Florida National Scenic Trail. As of 2010, rates were $8 per day for camping sites with no utilities, $12 per day for sites with water only and $18 per day for sites with water and electricity. Ocean Pond Campground is open year-round, with a maximum stay of 30 days.

    Big Flats Campground-Myakka River State Park

    • Big Flats Campground is located in Myakka River State Park. It is the largest campground at Myakka River and has 52 campsites, all with water and electrical hook-ups. Each spot also has a grill and a picnic table. The western edge of the campground overlooks the Big Flats marsh and the entire area is within walking distance from wildlife tours, a boat ramp, park concessions, bicycle and canoe rentals and the Upper Lake. Myakka River State Park has barbecue grills, fishing, bait, horse trails, mountain biking, picnicking and a nature center. The park provides showers and potable water as well. As of 2010, camping spaces were $26 per night, including utilities. You can make reservations through Reserve America. You can also reserve primitive sites located along the Myakka hiking trail directly through the park ranger station.

    Williams Landing Campground-Lake Talquin State Forest

    • Williams Landing Campground is one of three campgrounds located at Lake Talquin. Williams Landing allows tent and RV camping and also offers covered shelters. The campground has picnic areas and barbecue grills, along with a fishing pier. There are several boat ramps along Lake Talquin, and the park offers hiking, boating and kayaking. In 2010, up to four people and their vehicle could stay at the campground for $10 per night. Leashed pets are welcome.
