Year-Round Campgrounds in Austin, Texas

Located in Central Texas at the edge of a region called the Hill Country, Austin offers moderate temperatures that allow for outdoor activities such as rock climbing, cycling, hiking, fishing and golf almost year-round. This means many Austin campgrounds are open year-round. Whether you wish to camp close to downtown, west of the city near Lake Travis or southeast of town near McKinney Falls State Park, you'll find an open campground any time of year in Austin, Texas.
  1. Austin Lone Star RV Park

    • Austin offers both RV and primitive camping areas at most parks.

      This campground has all the amenities of home and is not far from downtown Austin. A heated swimming pool, wireless Internet and free cable television are available to campers, and the park welcomes pets to join you during your stay. There is a laundry room, restroom, small grocery and souvenir shop, and all sites have electric and water hookups. If you don't own an RV, don't bypass this campground, as they have rental cabins and tent camp sites. In 2010, nightly rates for camp sites started at $40, one room cabin rentals were $45, and two room cabins started at $55.

    La Hacienda RV Resort

    • La Hacienda RV Resort has two swimming pools for guest enjoyment.

      The La Hacienda RV Resort offers convenience and all the amenities and services of a five-star hotel. Two swimming pools and a Jacuzzi, a fitness center, wireless Internet, cable television, picnic shelters and even a business center are available for guest use. La Hacienda is pet-friendly and all sites have electric and water hookups. Nightly rates for RV sites as of 2010 ranged from $44 for a back-in site to $55 for a pull-in site. The two bathhouses are convenient to camp sites and are handicap accessible. The park is convenient to Lake Travis for water activities, or try golf at one of the nearby courses. Cabin rentals are available on a nightly basis throughout the week but weekends require a minimum two-night stay. Nightly rates for cabins vary depending on the size and location of the cabin and, as of 2010, rates ranged from $115 to $175.

    Hudson Bend RV Park

    • Hudson Bend RV Park offers a tranquil setting for guests.

      The Hudson Bend RV Park offers guests tranquil surroundings and a small, friendly atmosphere. The campground is close to Lake Travis for water activities such as boating, fishing, swimming and canoeing. Pets are welcome but must be kept on a leash while out on the grounds. There are a several restaurants within walking distance from the park and a grocery store across the street. For boaters, the Emerald Marina is nearby on Lake Travis. Boat and jet ski rentals can also be found close to the campground. As of 2010, nightly rates for sites were $25 or guests can stay a week for $85.

    McKinney Falls State Park

    • Fishing on the banks of Onion Creek is just one of the relaxing activities offered on the campgrounds of McKinney Falls State Park. The campground has 84 sites with water and electric hook-ups, and it offers screened cabins with beds for a more primitive experience. Guests can enjoy mountain biking or cycling on the park's paved and dirt trails. Wildlife is plentiful in the park and visitors can enjoy sightings of native wildlife including deer, raccoons and rabbits. Swimming and several different park tours are available to guests as well. Campsite rentals as of 2010 began at $12 per night for a basic tent campsite with no water or electric or $20 per night for an RV or tent site with water and electric hook-ups. Screened cabins with beds are $40 nightly. Pets are welcome at the park but are not permitted in any of the buildings or shelters.
