Beacon Harbor, located on Bethel Island, sits in the central portion of the Delta midway between Sacramento and the Bay Area. The camping area covers 1.3 acres and offers shaded sites for tents and RV's. Amenities include restrooms with hot showers, barbecue pits and picnic tables, full hookups for RV's and 24-hour security. The facility specializes in services for boaters, offering a launch ramp, 50 covered wet berths, covered dry storage and houseboat rentals. A golf course, restaurant and boat rentals are located within two miles.

Brannan Island's Cottonwood and Willow campgrounds offer 102 sites for tent and RV camping, as well as 32 slips at the Delta Boat Campsite. The campgrounds provide tables and stoves at each site with piped water and restrooms close at hand. RV sites provide water-only hookups; a sanitation station is located at the park's entrance. The berths in the boat camping area can handle boats up to 35 feet long and 10 feet wide. The area waterways are home to bluegills, perch and striped bass, among others. You need a California fishing license, readily available at area marinas and supply stores.

Windmill Cove sprawls along the Stockton deep-water channel and offers views of the San Joaquin River. RV sites, which are available for short stays or on a month-to-month basis, provide full hookups, guest docking and a nearby RV dump station. Tent sites are available in the Meadows area of the resort, which may be reserved for large groups. Cabin rentals include two- or three-bedroom units with full kitchen and bath. If you work up an appetite after a day on the water, the Windmill Bar & Grill features all-you-can-eat tacos every Tuesday.

Located on a peninsula connected to Ryer Island on the Steamboat Slough near Rio Vista, Snug Harbor can be reached by water or land. Ten tent camping sites are available, equipped with a picnic table and barbecue grill, but no water. Most of the resort is reserved for RV camping and cabin rentals. The 26 RV sites provide water and electrical hook-ups with 50-amp electricity. Most have sewer hookups, and a dump station is available. Amenities include restrooms with hot showers, a convenience store and wireless Internet (available in most areas). Fully equipped rental cabins line the waterfront, and most are close to a dock. Covered docks and open slips are also available at the marina.
