Modoc, Illinois, is a small community located near the Missouri River, at the borders of Missouri and Illinois, approximately 45 miles south of St. Louis. Frequently referred to as Brewerville, from the Randolph County precinct where it belongs, the community has no accommodation options at all, and in order to find a hotel, you have search in the nearby towns.
Located in the nearby town of Ste. Genevieve, across the Missouri River and within the state of Missouri, the Microtel Inn is the only full-service hotel you can find in the area. No extravagant amenities are offered by the hotel, although there are two meeting rooms, available upon request. In case you get hungry, Casey's Carry Out Pizza and Huddle House are just outside the property, while Memorial Park, within the premises of the town, is less than a mile away. Modoc is approximately five miles away and you can reach it via the ferry services on the Missouri River, at the end of Little Rock Road.
Another accommodation option in Ste. Genevieve is The Southern Hotel, a small Inn, offering eight rooms, each with a distinct theme, such as the Japonisme (oriental style) and the Gentlemen's (English themed) rooms. There are no showers within the property, only traditional bathtubs, which serve--as the owners believe--"as an encouragement to step away from their usual routines of life." There are plenty of nearby dining options, including the Old Brick House and Anvil Restaurant and Saloon, a five-minute walk from the property. In addition, you can visit the Ste. Genevieve Museum, as well as the town's winery, both within a 10-minute walk. To reach Modoc, take the ferry at the end of Little Rock Road and cross the Missouri River.
Approximately 10 miles north of Modoc, at the southern end of the nearby town of Red Bud, you will find this small motel. The property offers only basic amenities, including high-speed Internet and cable television. Only a five-minute walk toward the town center, you will find Pizza Hut, Silver Spur and China King, as well as a McDonald's restaurant. You can also visit the Ratz Memorial City Park in Red Bud, located by West Market Street, a five-minute drive from the inn.
An early 1900's mansion converted to a lodge, Somewhere Inn Time offers three guest rooms in the main house, all equipped with a jetted spa-tub. All are secluded rooms, for complete privacy. The inn also offers its guests an outdoor pool and a pergola-covered hot tub, both closed during the winter months. Near the inn you will find the Big Field Cafe & Wine Bar and Sirros, both within a 15-minute walk from the property. Nearby attractions include the Felix Valle Historic Site and Joseph Sisters Gallery, three blocks away. The inn is located in Ste. Genevieve and in order to reach Modoc, you will have to take the ferry from Little Rock Road's end and cross the Missouri River.
