How to Switch From Points to Weeks in RCI

Membership with RCI gives timeshare owners the flexibility to trade vacation time within a network of travel resorts. Members use either a "points" or "weeks" system. Points, much like currency, allow members to customize their stay and use the points toward products and services like airfare and car rentals. The weeks system is more traditional, allowing members to trade their timeshare unit in seven-day intervals. It's not necessary to convert points to weeks (nor is there an option to do so). If members wish to stay in an RCI-affiliated resort that does not participate in the points system, members can exchange their points for the value of a week's stay at that resort.

Instructions

  1. Preparing For The Exchange

    • 1

Check your account information to determine how many points you have available. This can be found in your membership packet or by signing in to the RCI website.

    • 2

Plan where and when you want to travel. Select a few different choices to keep your options open.

    • 3

Note the estimated value, in points, of the resort's week. Contact an RCI vacation guide for help, if necessary

    Making The Exchange Online

    • 4

Sign into the RCI website. If you do not have a username and password, follow the prompts to register and validate your account.

    • 5

Navigate to the "RCI Points Vacation" page and go to "RCI Weeks Reservation."

    • 6

Follow the screen prompts to book the reservation. The system will apply your points value to the resort's week.

    • 7

Check your email for confirmation and trip itinerary. This is your receipt for the transaction.

    Making The Exchange By Phone

    • 8

Call member services through the RCI Points contact. You will need your home phone number and RCI member ID number. Follow the automated system to speak with a vacation guide.

    • 9

Explain that you would like to book a reservation at a property that does not participate in RCI points.

    • 10

Provide the resort information and your dates of availability. Have some back-up options ready in case your first choice is not available. The vacation guide will take your information and complete the exchange.

Check your email for confirmation and trip itinerary. If you do not have email, this can be mailed to you instead.
