Since Cape Lookout is an island located three miles off-shore of North Carolina, the only way to get to and from the area is by a ferry. There are a number of ferry services available to take visitors both to and from specific areas of Cape Lookout.
Located on the South Core Banks of Cape Lookout is the Great Island Cabins. Great Island Cabins has 21 rustic cabins available that sleep up to 12 people. The cabins come furnished with bunk beds, hot water heater, table, chairs, kitchen, private bath and screened off porch. Many of the cabins are wired for generator use; however, visitors must supply their own generator. Another thing visitors of the Great Island Cabins should keep in mind is that they will need to supply their own linens, bedding and cookware as well.

Located on the North Core Banks of Cape Lookout is the Long Point Cabins. Long Point Cabins is open from March 26th through November 28th and has 21 units available that sleep up to 12 people. Each cabin is equipped with a hot water heater, propane heating system, light fixtures, combination sleeping and eating area, ceiling fans, table, chairs, kitchen, oven-stove combination and a private bathroom. Many of the duplex cabins have shared porches and decks. Visitors of Long Point Cabins should keep in mind that they will need to provide their own linens, bedding and cookware.
