Siberia Hunting & Fishing Lodges

Numerous hunting and fishing lodges, called hunting houses, are located throughout Siberia. The Siberian geography along with the shortness of the summer season dictates that most lodges place most of their emphasis on hunting opportunities. Lodges in the area adjacent to Lake Baikal are the exceptions, as the diversity of the area provides equally plentiful opportunities for both hunting and fishing adventures.
  1. Types

    • There are two types of Siberian hunting and fishing lodges. Full-service lodges offer complete services such as fully prepared meals, hunting guides, hunting licenses and permits, game butchering and packing, and transportation to and from the hunting or fishing areas. Other lodges offer only the barest of necessities, providing you with only a sleeping room or cabin, hunting guide and transportation.

    Quarry

    • Siberian hunting and fishing lodges offer outings based on the fish and game available in their area. Lodges in Eastern Siberia and adjacent to Lake Baikal offer fishing for popular species such as taimen trout, king salmon and grayling. Hunting lodges throughout Siberia offer hunts for brown bear, elk, caribou, moose, bighorn sheep, lynx, ibex, red deer, Manchurian deer, roebuck and Marco Polo sheep.

    Transportation

    • Siberia is a vast and remote area with extremely rugged terrain. Most Siberian hunting and fishing lodges provide some type of transportation for you to be able to travel between the lodge and the hunting and fishing areas, as well as to retrieve your game. Lodges may use horses, snow machines, dogsled or four-wheeled drive vehicles. For hunting of larger game, such as moose, many lodges provide helicopter service to fly out your kill.

    Cost

    • Costs for staying at Siberian hunting and fishing lodges can vary, based on the individual lodges, your length of stay and your chosen quarry. Fishing packages are generally less expensive than hunting trips. Package prices will generally include your guide, translator, room, transportation during the hunt, hunting permits, and trophy and meat care. Additional fees can include round-trip destination airfare, transportation from the airport to the lodge, firearm permits, visa, trophy fees and gratuities.

    Preparation

    • If you book a trip, you should check with the lodge directly to confirm your reservation and inquire about local conditions. Lodges will have information on what you should bring specific to the time of year and intended species. Reputable Siberian hunting and fishing lodges will be able to assist you with the necessary paperwork for your entrance visa and firearm import permits.
