Review the Indiana Department of Natural Resources Web site (see Resources, below) and browse the state park Web pages. Pay special attention to the areas around Bloomington, Terre Haute and along the Ohio and Wabash Rivers, as these areas are home to some of Indiana's finest scenery.
Plan early if you want to camp at Indiana Dunes, which is the premier state park. Because of its unique natural beauty and close proximity to Chicago, it is a favorite destination.
Consider camping at one of the seven state reservoirs that have campgrounds. These areas have an incredible variety of outdoor activities available. The reservoirs also have some tremendous fishing and boating opportunities. Pick up a fishing license before you fish.
Download the current information regarding fees. Indiana has different rates for in state campers versus out of state. If you plan to make several trips to Indiana, consider getting an annual permit.
