Eant a driver's license. Ensure that the driver's license of the intended age-requirement meeting primary driver is valid as it will be needed when leasing a vehicle through most U.S. car rental companies (See Reference 3, Q3 and Q9). Just like a passport when traveling, the license must not be expired or be damaged, which could make identification verifcation difficult.
Check the renter's credit card limit. Payment often can be made with a debit card or cash. However most car rental companies.require a valid major credit card to rent a car with them. Depending on the company, the renter must have a minimum available credit limit ranging between $100 to $500 issued in the primary driver's name. A deposit amount might be charged at the time of renting (See Reference 3, Q2, Q20 and Q26).
Ensure that the intended driver's personal auto insurance is current and that a valid copy is available to show as proof of insurance during leasing. If the renter does not have personal auto insurance, then they must purchase personal accident insurance through the rental car company (See Reference 3, Q10).
