If you are someone that family and friends have a hard time finding a gift for, then you probably have been the recipient of cash and gift cards. It can be a win-win situation. Some gift cards expire, but if you're in possession of American Express Gift Cheques, you are in luck. Here is how to use them.
Sign your American Express Gift Cheque(s) in the upper, left-hand corner in permanent ink as soon as you receive them.
Pay for your purchase with an American Express Gift Cheque by countersigning the check in the lower, left-hand corner. Make sure that a cashier witnesses you doing this. These checks are accepted virtually anywhere, since they are treated like cash.
Enter the purchase date in the date field on the check in the upper, right-hand corner when making a purchase.
Countersign in the lower, left-hand corner while a cashier is watching, if you wish to cash an American Express Gift Cheque. Then fill out the "Pay to the order of" line.
If you can't get the check cashed, you should call American Express at 1-800-525-7641 for assistance.
