Noord-Holland is a peninsula that is part of the Netherlands. Although many people visit the Netherlands for its capital city, Amsterdam, Noord-Holland can be an alternative and is a quiet retreat from a hectic city life. There are a few places of interest to visit when traveling to Noord-Holland.

    • The "rustic north" of Noord-Holland is full of beaches and open space. It is a classic seaside complete with small town shopping.

    Bergen and Egmend aan Zee

    • If you follow the dunes north along the sea, you will run into Bergen and Egmend aan Zee beaches. A highlight of this area is an aquarium with a complete whale skeleton.

    Zuiederzeemuseum

    • Zuiederzeemuseum is a town full of shops, workshops and buildings that give you a visual to what a classic fishing town looked like thousands of years ago.

    Aalsmeer Flower Auction

    • The Aalsmeer Flower Auction is an experience you can get nowhere else. At this location you can watch as 17 million flowers are sold or auctioned off around the world.

    Texel Island

    • Texel Island is only 15 miles long and five miles wide. Although it is small it is full of large beaches, small towns and natural reserves that have made locals give this area the title "Holland in Miniature."
