Think layers. Because the areas usually visited by safari can range wildly in temperature, it's best to dress in layers. That way you can remove extra clothing during the day when its at its hottest and cover up at night.
Dress in muted colors. Most safaris take you into the jungles or other wild places looking for rare or unusual animals in their natural habitat. Animals will be more likely to come closer to you or not notice you at all if you blend in with them by wearing natural or muted colors.
Consider long pants and sleeves. Mosquitoes aren't only pesky nuisances, but can be dangerous because they can transmit yellow fever or malaria. Wear long sleeves and long pants to avoid getting bitten.
Wear a hat. While a pith helmet may make you feel like a dashing adventurer, nothing screams tourist louder. An everyday hat with a brim can be helpful to protect you from both rain and the harsh rays of the sun.
