Open your passport to the inside cover. Sign the second page on the line above "Signature of Bearer." This verifies the document is yours and can be used as identification.
Open to page seven. Write your address under "Bearer's Address." This way, if the document is found, people know how to contact someone or return the item. If you have an address you are staying at when abroad for an extended period of time, write it under "Bearer's Foreign Address." This is useful as a student studying abroad and living with a family for several months.
Fill out the emergency contact information on the bottom of page seven. Write your contact's name next to "Name." His address should go next to "Address," and his phone number next to "Phone Number."
Fill your book with stamps as you travel. Though not every country requires a stamp, you can always ask for one. Attach visas in the back pages labeled "Visas," as well.
