The TCOA option is available for up to six months. But, it can be extended for another 6 months. First-Class Mail and periodicals are forwarded. Standard Mail and Package Services Mail are not forwarded. Note that Standard Mail and Package Services Mail are types of bulk mail. There is no charge for this service unless you opt to pay a nominal fee for identity verification. This change order may be completed online or at a local post office.
The Premium Forwarding Service was made available to residential customers in the United States in 2008. With this option, all mail is forwarded to the temporary location for a period of two weeks to one year. A weekly shipment is made via Priority Mail. Registered Mail and Express Mail are reshipped immediately upon receipt. In addition, mail that requires special handling, such as a delivery confirmation, is shipped separately from the weekly bulk package. Users pay a non-refundable registration fee and a weekly fee for the reshipment. The total cost is collected upfront at the time of registration based upon the anticipated need. If the time frame is reduced, the pro-rated amount is refunded upon request. There is also an additional charge to reship Standard Mail that will not fit in the weekly package and Package Services Mail. The postage due is collected at the time of delivery for these items. This service order must be completed at a local post office.
