Purchase tickets online. Airline tickets are purchased through the airline's website or through any number of ticket-booking websites. Use your credit or debit card to purchase tickets. Always check for BBB (Better Business Bureau) and security logos; this means the company has programs in place to protect your credit card information.
Print tickets. Tickets are printed immediately after purchase or from the traveler's email. The airline will send the traveler an email with a ticket confirmation number.
Write down confirmation numbers. The confirmation number will come in handy in the event you misplace your printed tickets. A ticket agent at an airport check-in will be able to look up your information using the confirmation number and issue you a printed ticket.
Bring your ticket confirmation number to the airport on the day of your departure. This number is necessary when using automated check-in. Bring a form of ID and the credit or debit card you used to make the ticket purchase.
Find an automated check-in machine. Automated check-in machines are usually located near the check-in counter; they resemble ATM machines. These machines are used for check-in on both domestic and international flights.
Enter your confirmation number and identification information into the automated check-in. The machine will ask you to slide your passport or enter a driver's license number, depending on where you are going and the type of machine. You will be prompted to confirm your flight information. After you confirm, the boarding pass will print and appear on a distribution shelf below the screen.
Purchase event tickets online. Large concert venues and theaters offer ticket purchasing through their websites. Smaller venues often use outside online ticket purchasing services, so their websites will link to another ticket purchasing page. In either case, you are able to print tickets after your purchase.
Confirm your ticket information. Verify the date, time and amount before printing the ticket. A ticket purchased with the wrong date may be honored if a show is not sold out, but venues provide no guarantees.
Print the tickets and write down confirmation numbers. In the event you misplace the printed tickets, a ticket agent will look up your information using your confirmation numbers and the credit card you used to purchase the tickets.
