How to Use Electronic Tickets

In an increasingly paperless world, electronic tickets make it easier for you to order tickets without leaving the comfort of your own home. There are many fields that are now working with electronic tickets, including the entertainment industry and even law enforcement. Tickets for airlines, movie theaters and venues that house sporting and concert events can now be purchased entirely online.

You've been pulled over and a police officer is approaching--not with a ticket pad, but with an electronic device. An electronic keypad reduces the amount of time police have to spend standing in the road inputting your information.

    • 2

Take your ticket. After the officeer has inputted your information, he will then be able to simply print you out a copy.

    • 3

Pay your ticket. Take the copy of your ticket and go to the courthouse to pay the fine--the next day, if you like. Electronic ticketing allows police to immediately transmit your ticket information to the courthouse. It helps the courthouse keep tidier records and have less paperwork to deal with.

    Airlines

    • 4

Buy your ticket. Purchasing an electronic ticket is generally done online, either through a travel service site or the airline's website.

    • 5

Print out the ticket. E-ticketing allows you to print out your ticket after arriving at the airport. Simply go to a customer service kiosk and input your name and credit card number or ticket confirmation number.

    • 6

Check your luggage and head for the plane. As of 2011, most ticket kiosks at airports are equipped with the ability to not only print your ticket, but also check you in for your flight. This leaves you with only having to check your luggage.

    Movie Theaters

    • 7

Buy your ticket. Sites such as Fandango allow you to browse through any number of movies and theaters. Purchase your tickets online with a credit card or debit card.

    • 8

Print out your ticket at the kiosk. Most movie theaters with an online ticket service have a kiosk so you can skip waiting in line. Enter your name and confirmation number, and the machine will print your tickets.

    • 9

Present your printed-out ticket to the usher.

    Concert and Sporting Events

    • 10

Pick your event. Whether it be a professional basketball game or your favorite band's concert, you should be able find tickets for it online.

    • 11

Purchase your electronic ticket online with either a credit card or debit card.

    • 12

Bring the printed-out ticket with you. Ordering your ticket online allows you to skip waiting in line at the box office; if you order early enough, the ticket will be mailed to you.
