How to Use Air Miles to Get Multiple Tickets

If you have been collecting frequent-flier air miles, you may be ready to cash them in. If you have enough air miles in your frequent-flier account, you may be able to not only get one airline ticket, but several. The number of air miles it takes to get one ticket varies between the different airline rewards programs. Once you know how many air miles you have in your account and how many it takes to purchase a ticket, you can start making reservations. It is easy to do so from the online account for the frequent-flier program.

Log into your account on the website of your air miles account. For example, if you have air miles with British Airways you would need to log into their Executive Club webpage. When you do so, you will see a summary of your account, which includes the number of air miles available for redemption. Write this down for later.

Navigate to the section of the page that reads either “Spend Miles” or “Use Miles.” The exact wording varies by program. Click on the link to be taken to the section of the site where you can cash in your miles for airline tickets.

Look for the “Rewards Calculator” or “Mileage Calculator” on the screen. This will tell you how many air miles it takes to get a ticket to various destinations. By checking the calculator, you can confirm that you have enough air miles available in your account to book more than one ticket.

Spend your air miles on tickets by clicking on or going to the “Book your reward flight” area of the site. If you are buying multiple tickets on the same flight, enter the number of passengers and your travel dates and make a reservation as normal--only this time, you will be paying with your air miles. If you are buying tickets on different flights, each ticket must be booked separately.
