How to use US Air Electronic Vouchers

Airlines have a reputation for inconveniencing passengers by over-booking or canceling flights, bumping passengers and continually cutting in-flight complimentary services. If an airline is responsible for inconveniencing you, they often issue travel vouchers, good for a certain dollar amount or travel route on a future flight with the same airline. On many airlines, using a travel voucher is not as simple as booking another ticket. The US Airways system requires you to call the airline's reservations number and show your voucher and ID at a ticket counter to redeem your travel voucher.

Instructions

    • 1

Find a ticket online for your dates of travel to see if your voucher will cover the cost. If the dollar amount on your voucher is less than the price of the ticket, you'll have to pay the fare difference; if the cost is less than your voucher, you won't be able to use the rest of the dollar amount on another flight.

    • 2

Call the US Airways reservation line at 800-428-4322 or go to a ticket counter at the airport or city ticketing office to make your reservation.

    • 3

Inform the agent that you have an electronic voucher before making your ticket reservation. These vouchers are not valid for some fares and flights, so informing the agent ahead of time will allow them to find tickets that fit the restrictions on your voucher.

    • 4

Reserve the ticket, if booking over the phone. US Airways requires that you to make an in-person appearance at a ticket office within 24 hours of booking in order to redeem a travel voucher.

    • 5

Hand over the voucher and show your ID to the ticketing agent at the airport or ticket office.

    • 6

Give the agent your credit card information to pay the remaining cost of the flight, if necessary.
