Cyprus is an island located in the Mediterranean Sea. It is the third largest island in the Mediterranean, after Sicily and Sardinia. Cyprus is located south of Turkey, west of Syria and Lebanon, northwest of Israel, and north of Egypt. The island is divided into two main parts: the Republic of Cyprus (southern Cyprus) and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (northern Cyprus). The Republic of Cyprus is internationally recognized as the sole legitimate government of Cyprus, while the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus is only recognized by Turkey.
