Place all the items you need for food preparation on a counter or table. Stack the items so that they take up less space. Instead of bringing along covers for pans that have just one purpose, bring along cookware or bakeware that can serve as covers and as pans for cooking or baking.
Label pint-size or quart-size jars to store food basics like sugar, flour and cooking oil instead of bringing along the entire bag or container. You can also bring along plenty of herbs and spices for cooking in the same way, by placing them in small labeled containers. Get small bottles of dish soap and put other cleaning supplies in smaller leak-proof containers.
Pack just two dishrags and dish towels. After using one, you have a backup set while washing and drying the used set. You may also not need a complete service of plates and cups if you camp with a small group.
Find shoebox size containers to organize the kitchen items by type for fast retrieval. Plastic shoeboxes may have lids that keep the dust out of the supplies and utensils. Some campers have shallow drawers in the kitchen for cutlery and kitchen tools.
Use mesh over-the-door organizers with small pockets to store toiletries on the inside of the bathroom door. Some of the organizers use different colors that you can assign for specific purposes or for each person traveling with you. The mesh organizers dry out quickly, so putting wet bottles of shampoo or toothbrushes into the organizers is not a problem.
Bring small tubes of toothpaste that take up much less space. Liquid hand soap also comes in small bottles, as does shower gel.
Store the extra toilet paper within an arm's reach away in the bathroom and keep spare towels in a clothes closet. You can also use suction hooks on the walls to hang the wet towels and washcloths if the bathroom doesn't have a towel bar.
Hang clothes if the camper has a closet. You can use space beneath the clothing to store extra shoes or boots.
Bring space bags along to store your clothes you do not hang, like shorts or tank tops. Space bags remove air from clothes so that the clothing takes up much less space. Roll up the bags to remove the air and tightly close the caps on the bags. You can also use the space bags to hold your dirty clothes.
Keep the clothes you don't need in the vehicle or the trunk.
