Purchase and lay out all the food and drink you intend to bring on the trip. Peanuts, trail mix, dry breakfast cereal, jerky and dried fruit make quick and healthy snacks. Pancake mix is a good choice for a breakfast food because it's relatively compact (you'll add water when you prepare pancakes), especially if you're camping near wild blueberries. Bring tea bags, dry noodle soup mix, canned turkey or chicken, quick-cooking rice and pita bread.
Store noodle soup mix, rice and pancake mix in plastic containers. Fill the containers to the top. Snap the lids tightly, to keep out water and air. Organize items like nuts, raisins, cereal, snack mixes, pita bread and jerky into plastic bags. Store these bags and small plastic containers in one large plastic container or drawstring bag.
Pack your food together. It helps to have all of your food in one place instead of searching around your luggage or other gear for a particular food item.
