Fill out the appropriate passport application form on the U.S. Department of State website. If you already have a passport book, you can apply using form DS-82. You can turn in your application by mail or in person at an Orlando post office that offers passport services. If you do not have a passport book, you must apply in person by filling out form DS-11. Do not sign form DS-11 until you are instructed to at your in-person interview.
Take a passport photo. Follow the Department of State's online guidelines for U.S. travel document photos. You need two color, identical photos.
Gather identity information. If you are already a passport book holder, your current passport will serve as both a photo ID and a citizenship ID. If you are not a passport holder, you will have to supply a Florida state-issued photo ID or a federal photo ID along with proof of citizenship.
Make copies of your identification documents to submit to the passport agent.
Write two separate checks for the processing fee and the execution fee, Make checks payable to the Department of State. Some acceptance facilities accept cash payments. Fees are listed on the Department of State website.
Call one of the post offices in Orlando that accepts passport applications or any Orlando county clerk office to make an in-person appointment.
Bring your application, supporting documents, fees and photos to the acceptance facility. Sign the application form when you are instructed to do so. Passport cards are mailed to you.
