Homeland Security Passport Information

In recent years, the Department of Homeland Security has made changes to the laws concerning entry into the United States. Before you travel, be sure to review the new laws to ensure that you have everything you need.
  1. Air Travel

    • When traveling by air, you must present a passport book or other valid transportation document when entering the United States.

    Land and Sea Travel

    • You must present a U.S. passport card/book or other valid travel document when entering the United States by land or sea.

    Children

    • Children under the age of 16 can present a U.S. birth certificate or other proof of citizenship to enter the United States.

    Valid Travel Documents

    • Valid travel documents other than a U.S. passport book/card include: Trusted Traveler Cards, U.S. Military Identification, U.S. Merchant Mariner Document, Native American Tribal Photo ID card and Form I-872 American Indian Card.

    Warning

    • The aforementioned documents are needed to enter the United States. The country you are traveling to may require you to show additional documentation.
