You can complete the passport renewal form DS-82 online and print out the completed form or pick up a form at your local post office and fill it out the old-fashioned way.
Photos must have a light background and should show ears and eyes. Head coverings are not permitted, unless they are for religious purposes. If your religion requires a head covering, please include a written statement explaining its use. Passport photo requirements are strict, so be sure to check that your photos meet all of the necessary requirements.
Be sure to sign your application and include any necessary renewal payments.
Send in your application via Priority Mail with delivery confirmation. With delivery confirmation from the Postal Service, you will know that your application has been delivered to the Department of State.
Routine service takes approximately four to six weeks. Expedited service takes approximately five to 10 business days and requires an additional fee. Be sure to mark the outside of the envelope "Expedited" if you enclose that fee. Check the link below for expedited service details.
