How to Resubmit for a Passport

The United States State Department issues passports to citizens that meet all application requirements. Once your passport is issued, it is valid for 10 years from the date of issuance unless you change your name; name changes require obtaining a new passport. When it's time to renew your passport, you are required to resubmit much of the paperwork you submitted the first time you applied for your passport; only this time you can choose to submit your renew application and supporting documents by mail or at your local passport acceptance facility.
