How do I Check on a Visa to Rome?

As a citizen of the United States, you may enter all of Italy, including Rome, as a tourist if you plan to stay for 90 days or less. If you intend to stay longer, you will need to apply for a visa allowing you to do so. If your purpose for visiting Rome is other than tourism, you will need to apply for a visa as well, no matter the length of stay. You will need to apply for the visa before your arrival in Rome. Once you apply, the processing may take several weeks; during such time, a quick phone is required to check on the status of your visa application.
