How to Apply Online for a United States Visitor Visa
Visiting the United States for either business or pleasure requires a foreign citizen to obtain a visa. If you plan to travel to the States for a business purpose, you will need a B-1 visa. When traveling to America as a tourist, you need a B-2 visa. A foreign citizen needs to demonstrate that his intended stay in the United States will be brief and that he has strong ties to his current country. Most of this process can be handled online, but finalization must be done in person at a U.S. Consulate.

Fill out Form DS-160 online. Form DS-160, the Online Non-immigrant Visa Electronic Application, is available at the second link in Resources.

Upload a digital photo. The photo must be recent and contain your full face, neck and shoulders.

Welcome to the United States.
Submit your application, photo and $131 filing fee online. You will receive a confirmation letter at that time which will allow you to schedule your visa interview. You must bring your passport, confirmation letter and other supporting documents to your interview to be approved for your visa.
