How to Get a Visa From India to Malaysia

There are many different visas for people entering Malaysia for different reasons. However, people travelling from India to Malaysia only need a tourist visa. The process to obtain a tourist visa from India to Malaysia it very simple. Most people can complete the processes without a hitch.

      Obtain a valid passport. For persons travelling from India to Malaysia they must have a valid passport. Passports must have at least six months before expiration from the date of arrival.

      Acquire an internationally recognized travel document. Internationally recognized travel documents are only necessary for travelers that do not have a valid passport. If you are planning on using a document you must complete an application with the Malaysian embassy to make sure that the document will be accepted. The application can be obtained in India at the Malaysian Representatives Office abroad. After the application is submitted the Malaysian government will notify you whether the document is accepted as a replacement for a passport.

      Obtain verification of sufficient funds. If requested by the immigration officer, you must be able to provide evidence that you have sufficient funds to support yourself and any dependents while in Malaysia.

      Acquire a ticket to a third country. If you are not planning on returning to India you must have in your possession a return ticket to a third country. If requested by the immigration officer you must show proof that you have a ticket out of the country. Those that are not planning on leaving may be denied a visa and entry into the country.

      Do not travel from India if you are considered a prohibited person. The Malaysian government has set up restrictions for persons travelling into the country. No all persons are allowed to enter. Restricted persons include vagrants, convicted criminals, prostitutes, mentally ill, sick and contagious and those that fail to take a medical examination if requested by the immigration officer.       Upon entering the country fill out an arrival/departure card. Upon every entry point there will be a arrival/ departure card. This must be filled out and handed to the immigration officer before being allowed to enter the country.

      Speak to the immigration officer. After you enter the country you will speak to an immigration officer. The immigration officer will have the final say in granting the visa. Make sure you have all documents on hand as he may request them from you before he grants your visa.
