Be sure that your passport is valid for at least one year from the date you will submit a temporary resident visa application. If it is not, you must renew your passport before submitting your application or it will be rejected.
Acquire a passport-sized photograph of yourself. This photograph should be 2in. x 2in., include a front view of you from the top of your hair to your shoulders, and feature your natural face (no sunglasses or hat should be worn). The background should be plain white or off-white.
Contact your bank and acquire a standard bank letter and booklet for a temporary resident visa application. They will most likely be familiar with the form, but be advised that it should be on official bank letterhead, include your full name as it appears on your passport and the number of and amount in your bank account (this should be more than enough to cover the length of your stay in Canada).
Obtain a bank draft in the amount of US $75, CAN $75 or Gourdes 2700 to cover the fees for your temporary resident visa. Be sure to obtain a receipt for your records.
Contact your boss and obtain a recent employment letter. This letter should be written on official company stationary and include your full name as it appears on your passport, the length of time that you have been working with that company, the amount of your salary, and the contact information and signature of your supervisor.
Contact the person that invited you to temporarily reside in Canada. Have them write a letter detailing, amongst other things, the length of your intended stay. This letter must include specific information. For explicit instructions on the requirements, visit the Haitian Canadian Embassy's Website (http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit/letter.asp).
Download your temporary resident visa form, additional information form, additional family information form, and police, military or state/government service sheet (if applicable) from the Haitian Canadian Embassy's Website (http://www.canadainternational.gc.ca/haiti/visas/temporary-resident-temporaire.aspx?lang=eng).
Make two photocopies (each) of your passport, passport-sized photo, bank letter and booklet, recent employment letter, invitation letter and temporary resident visa application forms. Put one set of copies somewhere safe. Then, place the second set of copies in a manila envelope. Also, place your passport, bank draft and the originals of the other documents that you copied into your manila envelope. Check and doublecheck that everything is included.
Bring your manila folder filled with all of your documents to the Canadian Embassy in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. This is where you must apply in person. Be aware that they are only open from Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. and they are closed the last Thursday of every month.
