How to Apply Visitor or Travel B-1 B-2 VISA to USA

Before traveling to the United States, a citizen of a foreign country must generally obtain a non-immigrant visa for temporary stay or an immigrant visa for permanent residence. Instructions

    • 1

Complete your application fully and accurately. Use State Department Form DS-156. Male applicants aged 16 to 45 use Form DS-157.

    • 2

Pay a non-refundable application fee; at the time of publication, the fee raged from $140 to $390. Bring a photocopy of your current passport (first and last page) for procuring a payment receipt.

    • 3

Navigate to the U.S. embassy website for the country where you reside and click the "Apply for a Non-Immigrant Visa" link. You will need to use your passport number and receipt's purchase date to schedule an appointment.

Report to the U.S. Embassy on the date and time of your visa interview. You will need to bring your printed appointment letter, visa application forms, one recent photograph (taken less than six months prior to the interview), current and all old passports and the original bank fee receipt. Applications without all of the above and the original fee receipt, or with an incorrect photograph, could result in the denial of your visa request.

Prepare for your interview by being able to clearly and concisely describe your intentions.
