Reasons for Refusal of a Chinese Visa

A trip to China can be a thrilling adventure. However, you may be disappointed to discover your application for a Chinese visa has been denied -- especially considering it costs $130 for U.S. citizens to apply for a Chinese visa. The high price of the visa application makes it important to be certain your application is not refused.
  1. Passport Validity

    • Your passport must have at least six months of remaining validity and have at least one blank visa page in it to receive the Chinese visa. This rule is in place to avoid an issue of passport expiration while out of your home country.

    Proper Completion of Application

    • The application forms must be filled out correctly and in their entirety. "If the visa application form is not filled out completely, correctly and legibly, your visa application may be delayed or rejected," according to the Chinese embassy. Be sure to check over the information you have entered into the forms carefully. Take your time filling out the forms and be accurate with your information.

    Meeting the Health Requirements

    • You must meet certain health requirements to obtain a Chinese visa. "Any person suffering from a mental disorder, leprosy, AIDS, venereal diseases, contagious tuberculosis or other such infectious diseases shall not be permitted to enter China," according to the embassy website. Persons who suffer from any of the previously mentioned conditions will be refused entry into China. The form titled "Physical Examination record for Foreigner" must be filled out truthfully by the applicant for permission to enter the country.

In the Hands of the Visa Officer

    • The Visa Officer plays an important role in the approval of your application. The embassy website states that "Visa Officers are empowered to make final decision on the validity, duration of stay and times of entry of a visa and may require the applicants provide relevant documents." The Visa Officer can therefore refuse entry if he deems it appropriate. Be as precise and accurate during the application process to avoid any issues with the visa approval.
