Make reservations in advance. Dolphin swimming may not be the only event on your agenda, so you must check ahead to make sure space is available for everyone in your party. Visit the SeaWorld San Diego website and search for availability in the Dolphin Interaction Program. Participants must be 10 years of age or older, at least 48 inches tall and in good health. To experience the program, you must also purchase a general admission ticket to the SeaWorld main park. This is not included in the Dolphin Interaction Program reservation. As of December 2010, cost of the dolphin program is $190 per person. Admission tickets to the park are $69.99 for adults and $59.99 for children ages 3 to 9.
Dress appropriately. Participants are not allowed to wear any kind of jewelry during the experience. They must come with swimsuits. Before entering the tank with the animals, participants are issued wet suits with booties.
Be comfortable in water. Participants do not have to swim during any part of the 60-minute program, but they will be in waist- or chest-deep water for at least 20 minutes. Participants will directly interact with the dolphins, so make sure everyone in your party is comfortable being around animals. A trainer will be with you at all times to answer any questions.
Avoid cancellation fees. If you cancel at least 45 days before your scheduled reservation, you will be given a full refund. Cancellations from 30 to 44 days before your scheduled reservation result in a $10 fee. Cancellations from eight to 29 days before your scheduled reservation will cost half of your ticket price. If you cancel within seven days of your scheduled reservation, you will forfeit your entire ticket price.
