Jet Blue Baggage Information

When you arrive at the airport, you don't want to spend souvenir, sight-seeing or lunch money to get your luggage on the plane. JetBlue has specific regulations on the number of bags you can carry on the plane or check into the plane's cargo compartment, bag size, weight and when you can check luggage. They also offer checking options that will make your trip easier, ranging from $2 to $20.
  1. Carry-on Bags

    • Passengers may carry laptops on board JetBlue flights.

Passengers may carry two items on a JetBlue plane: a personal item like a purse or laptop that fits under the seat (no larger than 17 inches in total dimension, or length + width + height) and a bag that fits in the overhead bin. The dimensions of the overhead differ by plane. To fit in the JetBlue Airbus A320's overhead bin, your carry-on must be no more than 26 inches long, 18 inches wide and 12 inches thick. The EMBRAER 190 overheads accommodate bags 24 inches long, 16 inches wide and 10 inches high.

    Checked Bags

    • Passengers may check one bag for free. Your bag must be no bigger than 62 inches total in dimension and weigh no more than 50 lbs. JetBlue charges fees for overweight bags: $50 for bags between 51 and 75 lbs. and $100 for 71 to 99 lobs. Fees for oversize luggage are $75 for bags whose dimensions exceed 63 to 80 inches. Don't exceed the limits; the airline will turn you and your 100-lb. or 81-inch bag away.

JetBlue charges $30 for the second checked bag and $75 if you're checking three or more bags. Fees apply to each category: weight, size and number.

    International Exceptions

    • Passengers flying to the Dominican Republic may only check two bags and may not have any overweight or oversized bags. JetBlue will not accept boxes as checked items on international flights.

    Time Frame

    • You cannot check bags more than four hours before your flight's scheduled departure time. JetBlue stops checking bags 30 minutes prior to departure for domestic flights and 60 minutes before international flight departures.

    Curbside Check-In

    • At airports that offer curb-side check-in, passengers may check one bag outside the airport. If flying internationally or checking a second bag, you must check in at the indoor JetBlue counter (with the exception of JFK). Curbside check-in costs $2 per bag, cash only.

    Remote Check-In

    • JetBlue's collaboration with the company BAGS allows passengers to check-in remotely from locations like hotels, rental car locations and onboard cruise ships. With this service, you can visit a designated JetBlue Remote Check-in location two to four hours before your flight departs, check in, receive your boarding pass and have your bags delivered to your plane. This service can cost up to $20.
