Each passenger may bring one bag that fits into the overhead bin on the plane. On the Airbus A320 the bag must not be more than 26 inches long, 18 inches wide and 12 inches high. On the Embraer 190 the bag should not exceed 24 inches by 16 inches by 10 inches. Passengers may additionally bring one personal item such as a purse, briefcase or laptop. This must be able to fit under the seat in front with dimensions not exceeding 17 inches by 12.5 inches by 8 inches. Medical assistance items do not count as carry-ons. As of 2010, each passenger may bring one bag free of charge. This bag must not exceed 62 inches in any dimension and must weigh no more than 50 lbs. There will be a fee for any overweight or oversize bags. A complete set of the excess fee calculation can be found on Jet Blue's website. Boxes cannot be checked as baggage on international flights. Only the passenger may check-in the luggage. This must be done a minimum of 30 minutes before a domestic flight and 60 minutes prior to an international flight. Baggage will not be accepted more than four hours before a flight.
A lap infant qualifies for one diaper bag, one stroller and one car seat allowance and infants traveling for free do not qualify for checked baggage allowance. Hazardous materials are not allowed as carry-on or checked baggage items. A list of these can be found on the Jet Blue website. Sporting equipment may be accepted as checked baggage in lieu of the first piece of baggage. It must be packed in a hard-sided container or packaging designed to withstand ordinary handling.
