Jet Blue's Baggage Policies

Jet Blue Airlines has different baggage policies, depending on whether the items are carry-on or checked baggage. The size and weight restrictions may also vary depending upon the type of airplane used on the flight. All fees, rules and restrictions are valid as of October 2010 and are subject to change at the airline's discretion.
  1. Carry-on Baggage

    • Jet Blue allows each passenger to carry on one bag that will fit in the overhead compartment, in addition to one personal item such as a briefcase or a laptop that will fit under the seat. When flying on the Airbus A320, the carry-on item cannot exceed 17 inches by 12.5 inches by 8 inches in order to fit in the overhead compartment.

    Checked Baggage

    • Each passenger is allowed one checked bag free of charge. The overall dimensions of the bag's length, width and height, cannot exceed 62 inches. The weight of the bag cannot exceed 50 lbs.

    Overweight Fees

    • A passenger will be charged $50 for bags weighing between 51 lbs. and 70 lbs. There is a charge of $100 for bags weighing between 71 lbs. and 99 Ibs. Bags heavier than 99 lbs. will not be accepted.

    Additional Baggage

    • The passenger is charged $30 to check in a second bag. A fee of $75 is charged for each additional bag after the second.
