Jet Blue must be informed of unaccompanied minor status when the flight reservation is made. The name, address and phone number of the persons responsible for dropping off and picking up the child must be provided when booking the flight. If the flight is booked online, you must call Jet Blue once you receive confirmation to provide contact information and pay the additional fee. It is Jet Blue's policy that unaccompanied minors only travel on direct or nonstop flights.
When checking in for the flight, the guardian must provide photo identification. Depending on the airport rules, a gate pass may be issued for the guardian to accompany the minor to the gate; however, TSA makes the decision as to whether the guardian will be allowed through security with the child. The guardian must leave a phone number with Jet Blue so that, in the event of a gate return, he can be notified.
At the final destination, the child will be escorted from the plane to her guardian by a Jet Blue crew member. The guardian must provide photo identification -- the minor will only be released to the person indicated on the reservation. Depending on airport regulations, the guardian may be issued a gate pass. Guardians should arrive at the airport no fewer than 30 minutes before the plane's arrival. Connecting flights on Jet Blue are not allowed for unaccompanied minors, nor will they be escorted to connecting flights on other airlines.
