The Magic Kingdom was the first theme park opened in Disney World. The park opened in October 1971. The Magic Kingdom consists of five separate "lands," each complete with their own themes, restaurants, rides and shows.
Guests can visit Fantasyland for old-fashioned, kid-friendly rides featuring their favorite characters. Visitors to the adjacent Adventureland can explore the jungle, ride a magic carpet or plunder with the Pirates of the Carribbean.
Frontierland offers some great spills and chills and includes both Splash Mountain and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, the longest and fastest rides the Magic Kingdom has to offer. Tomorrowland features the iconic Space Mountain and is home to Buzz Lightyear, Stitch and other Disney characters.
Mickey's Toon Town is sure to please kids of all ages and offers many opportunities to meet Mickey, Minnie and the whole gang.
Epcot opened in October 1982 and is comprised of two separate sections, Future World and World Showcase. Future World features rides and attractions with an emphasis on learning. Headline attractions in Future World include Soarin' (located in the Land Pavilion) and Test Track, the longest and fastest ride in any Disney park.
World Showcase features 11 life-sized dioramas of countries of the world. Each country is designed to give visitors a sense of what the country and its citizens are like, offering shows, food, merchandise and more. Countries, including Japan, China, France, Norway and seven others are arranged around the World Showcase lagoon for easy viewing.
Disney's Hollywood Studios opened in May 1989, as a working animation and film studio that allowed visitors to get an inside look at the entertainment industry. Hollywood Studios includes the tallest point in Walt Disney World--the top of the Tower of Terror. In addition to thrill rides and movie-based attractions, there are plenty of shows and entertainment designed to delight guests at Disney's Hollywood Studios, including the Great Movie Ride, Star Tours and Toy Story Mania.
Disney's Animal Kingdom opened in April 1998 and is home to a variety of exotic and unusual species. Disney park engineers strove to create natural environments for the animals in the parks exhibits, and the park is packed with informative and educational attractions.
Disney's Animal Kingdom features many opportunities to meet real animals and ways to explore the past as well. Dinoland U.S.A. brings visitors face to face with a variety of dinosaurs via rides, shows, games, playgrounds and more. Other headline attractions include the fast and furious Expedition Everest, the breathtaking journey of Kilamanjaro Safaris and the fun and fanciful "It's Tough to be a Bug."
In addition to the main four theme parks, Disney World is home to two large water parks, Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach. Both water parks feature innovative water slides and rides and offer a great way to cool off on a hot day. Disney Quest is a miniature, indoor video amusement park located at Downtown Disney, and it offers simulation rides, video games and more.
