Geothermal Heating Schools

Geothermal heating is a form of renewable energy technology that transfers heat from the ground to be used to heat residential and commercial buildings, or to be stored to be used in another capacity. Colleges and universities with renewable energy research centers occasionally offer intensive continuing education courses in geothermal heat pump technology primarily for architects, engineers and installers to expand their businesses to meet the growing demand for sustainable construction methods.
  1. Oklahoma State University

    • Oklahoma State University is a public four-year university with the main campus in the suburban Oklahoma city of Stillwater and additional campuses throughout the state. Founded in 1890, today the sun-grant university's houses the headquarters of the International Ground Source Heat Pump Association, an organization that promotes ground source heat pump technology education. Presented in conjunction with the Geothermal Heat Pump Consortium and the Association of Energy Engineers, IGSHPA hosts a certification program in ground source heat pump technology at the university. The one-day course is designed for engineers and architects, and covers grouting procedures, pertinent computer software and other topics related to geothermal heating technology.
