Railroad Train Tours

Traveling by train allows you to experience the natural and man-made beauty that you would miss from a plane. Many railroads and trains also have historic roots and can give a first-hand look into the lives and travels of people in the past.
  1. Across the U.S.

    • Spanning the United States and Canada along a few cross-country routes, Amtrak can deliver an extensive railroad experience. The California Zephyr takes you through the Rocky Mountains or you can tour the California coastline on the Coast Starlight. You can also take America's only high speed train, the Acela Express, from New York City to Washington D.C.

    The Arkansas and Missouri Railroad

    • A train tour on the Arkansas and Missouri Railroad will take you through the Ozark Boston Mountains. Trips during the spring or fall allow you to experience the seasonal foliage at its best.

    Grand Canyon Railway

    • Take the Grand Canyon train through one of the Seven Wonders of the World. Closed for about 90 years before being reopened in 1989, the train route originally transported iron ore. Experience the same trip done by ranchers and miners around a century ago.

    The Great Smokey Mountains Railroad

    • Tour the famous Smokey Mountains on the Great Smokey Mountains Railroad. Located in Western North Carolina the railroad tour winds through the scenic mountains and takes you past small villages and towns. The route also runs through many historic tunnels and bridges.
