How to Plan a Spring Break Trip to South Beach

South Beach is one of the hottest party destinations in Miami. Between the pristine beaches, world-class shopping and the thriving nightlife, you'll find no shortage of ways to plan for your spring break trip to South Beach.

Instructions

  1. Learn the South Beach Basics

    • 1

Arrive at either of Miami's two airports. The Miami International Airport is closer and is served by all the big airlines. The Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport is just as reliable but located about a half hour away.

    • 2

Use the Miami Dade Transit System to reach South Beach. The public bus system is a safe and reliable way to get around Miami. The J route will deliver you to Miami and either the C or H routes will take you the rest of the way to South Beach.

    • 3

Stay at one of South Beach's luxurious hotels. These hotels are located in popular spring break areas such as Ocean Drive, Collins Avenue, Lincoln Road or Washington Avenue. SouthBeach-USA.com can help you locate the perfect hotel (see Resources below).

Party All Night in South Beach

    • 4

Party until 5 a.m. at many of the bars and nightclubs in South Beach. There are more than 150 nightclubs in South Beach.

    • 5

Bring money. South Beach is not a cheap place to party. Cover charges at popular nightclubs can be quite expensive.

    • 6

Prepare to wait in line. At popular clubs you can expect to wait in line for several hours. It's always a good plan to arrive early.

    • 7

Dress your best. Because South Beach is one of the most popular destinations in fashion community, you should leave the flip flops and beach shorts at the hotel. You don't want to get to the front of the club line only to be denied entrance by the door staff.

Shop in South Beach's World Famous Malls and Stores

    • 8

Visit the Lincoln Road Mall for outdoor shopping. Over 400 businesses line the seven blocks of Lincoln Road's indoor shopping promenade. Buy fresh foods at the farmer's market each Sunday.

    • 9

Take a trip to the Collins Avenue Fashion District to see the work of the world's most famous fashion moguls. Located between fifth and ninth streets, the fashion district is home to many famous stores, including Versace, Armani and Nicole Miller.

    • 10

Plan to visit Ocean Drive for more of a down-to-earth shopping experience. Here you'll find more of the young, hip boutique shops.
