Sapporo is the capital city of Japan's northernmost prefecture of Hokkaido and the fifth largest city in Japan. It is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Japan and every year millions of tourists travel to the city known for its annual Snow Festival, colder climate, beer and rich cultural and historical landmarks.       Visit the Sapporo Brewery. One of the things Sapporo is best known for internationally is its beer. Built in the latter portion of the nineteenth century, this brewery is the oldest in Japan. The brewery remains here in Sapporo with an accompanying "Beer Museum." There are guided tours through the museum available, which show visitors the process of making beer. Also be sure to check out the large beer garden.

      Spend the day at the Sapporo Factory. The Sapporo Factory is a large entertainment complex full of shops and various other entertainment outlets including a theater, a large fitness center, many restaurants, shops and cafes. Not only can visitors get their shopping done here, they can work out, watch a film and go to a movie as well.

      Go to the Maruyama Zoo. The serene and relaxing Maruyama Zoo makes an ideal day trip for the whole family. Visitors can look at elephants, dolphins, polar bears and monkeys, all without having to leave the Sapporo city limits. Children especially will enjoy the petting zoo and the "Kid Land" entertainment section. Adults and children alike will have fun at the pleasant and happy Maruyama Zoo.

      Relax at the Jozankei Onsen. Japan is known for "onsens," which are natural hot springs in which visitors can bathe. The Jozankei Onsen is located inside a beautiful canyon with a hot waterfall. No matter what season you are in Sapporo, you can relax at this onsen. In the summer, you can cool down and in the winter, you can warm up. This is a wonderful and relaxing way to unwind in a truly Japanese style.

      Go to the Mount Moiwa Ropeway. The Ropeway provides some of the most incredible panoramic views of the city of Sapporo. Visitors can go along the Ropeway in charming "gondolas." This is a traditional way to get some fresh, open air and enjoy scenic vistas from the mountains.
