World Guides classifies Monterrey's climate as subtropical, arid and humid, with only slight seasonal changes.
The climate of Monterrey is also impacted by its altitude of approximately 3,000 feet and the surrounding mountains, canyons and forests, according to World Guides, which sometimes cause surprising and unpredictable weather patterns.
Although the average year-round temperature is charted at 73 degrees Fahrenheit, World Guides points out that much hotter weather is common in Monterrey with frequent triple digits, especially during the summer months of June, July and August. Further, the winter months from December to February can feature relatively cool nights with temperatures even dropping below 50 degrees Fahrenheit, but snowy weather is quite rare. Mexperience mentions that rain is most common during the summer, between late June to September, though only typically lasting a few hours before the sun once again breaks through the clouds.
