Lake Marion is the larger and northernmost of the two Santee Cooper Lakes. Elliott's Landing and Campground has sites for tents, trailers and RVs with water, sewer and electrical hookups. Amenities include a 300-foot fishing pier, a boat ramp, a general store and two bathhouses. Elliott's Landing is a good place for bird-watching, with the endangered snail kite occasionally spotted on the property. Poplar Creek Landing has tent and RV sites in a family-friendly atmosphere. The campground features full hookups, bathrooms, showers, a playground, a convenience store and a lakeside restaurant. The campground also has a fishing guide service and a fish cleaning station.
Santee State Park has two campgrounds: Cypress View on the west side of the park and Lakeshore on the east side. Both campgrounds feature water and electrical hookups, picnic tables, laundry facilities, dump stations, restrooms and hot showers. Primitive group camping is also available. Mill Creek Campground has sites set among dogwood, pine and oak trees. Amenities include electrical hookups, laundry facilities and a small beach. The campground is adjacent to a marina with a convenience store, restaurant and boat slips for lease. The convenience store sells a variety of fishing tackle.
Rockspond Campground & Marina, set on a working plantation, offers miles of shoreline with live oaks draped in Spanish moss. The campground features lakeside sites with full RV hookups, laundry facilities, restrooms and showers. Amenities include a store, recreation hall, snack bar, playground, sandy beach and miniature golf course. The adjacent marina has two boat ramps and fuel docks. Hide-a-Way Campground, at Ferguson Landing, has campsites for tents, trailers and RVs. Sites have water, sewer and electrical hookups as well as access to a central bathhouse. Primitive sites are also available.
Lake Moultrie, about 10 miles long and 10 miles wide, is about half the size of Lake Marion. The campground at Angel's Landing has camper and RV sites with cement patios, full hookups, cable TV and wireless Internet. Amenities include a heated swimming pool, a 4-acre recreation area and a recreation hall. Angel's Landing also has a waterfront restaurant, a camp store and a marina. S & S Campground has waterfront sites for tents and RVs with water, sewer and electrical hookups, cable TV and shower facilities. The campground also offers pull-through sites, primitive sites and boat slips.
