RV Campgrounds at Shasta Lake, California

Outdoors enthusiasts can enjoy boating, water-skiing or fishing at Shasta Lake, one of California’s largest and most scenic reservoirs. Visit in either spring or fall and take part in a Shasta Lake Trout Derby. Bring your camera and capture images of bald eagles as they soar above the waterline or the occasional deer that wanders into camp. The more remote RV campgrounds are on the northern end of the lake near the town of Lakehead but still easily reached by Interstate 5. Campgrounds are also located in and around Redding, to the south.
  1. Shasta Lake RV Resort – Lakehead

    • Located on Lake Shasta, the Shasta Lake RV Resort is located on the northern end of Lake Shasta, in the Lakehead area. This family friendly campground offers both RV and tent camping spots. The 50 RV sites are shaded with full hookups and able to accommodate even the largest rigs. Enjoy a private boat dock, family movie night, a swimming pool and a well-stocked bait and grocery store. Bring your boat and trailer, because the facility features plenty of storage space, and boat slips are available. If you don’t have your own RV, rental trailers and cabins are offered. A nightly fee is charged for dogs, which are welcome as long as they are leashed.

Antlers RV Park & Campground – Lakehead

    • Antlers RV Park and Campground, also near Lakehead, offers a boat launch, boat rentals and slip rentals at the neighboring Antlers Resort and Marina. Campsites, some of them pull-thru, are surrounded by trees and offer full hookups. Tents are allowed on some of the larger RV sites, which is a handy option if you have a larger family but a small RV. The Antlers Store and Snack Bar offers outdoor dining on a shaded deck and a range of items including souvenirs. Monday is bingo night, and Sunday morning during the summer means eating your fill at the pancake breakfast. Leashed pets are welcome -- but only two per site and an additional nightly fee is charged.

Lakeshore Inn and RV – Lakehead

    • Lakeshore Inn and RV is located on the southern end of Lakehead, surrounded by hardwood trees and pines. In addition to RV and tent campsites, this property offers cabins, a lake-house cottage and an onsite restaurant with indoor and outdoor dining. Summer brings bingo nights, karaoke and dancing to live music on Saturdays. The Old Lodge, a rebuilt cocktail lounge, offers drinks in a rustic setting complete with antique bar. The campground sits on a steep bluff overlooking the lake and offers pathways down to the water. Leashed pets are welcome and subject to a nightly fee.

    Holiday Harbor – O’Brien

    • Holiday Harbor, a combination RV campground and marina, is located in the town of O’Brien, about 7 miles south of Lakehead. Choose from one of Holiday Harbor’s 27 lakefront campsites, all well shaded and with full hookups. The full-service marina also offers houseboats, fishing boats, ski boats, flat-bottomed party boats and personal watercraft for rent. Banana boats and other towables, including water ski equipment, are also available. Walk next door to the Harbor Café, the gift shop or the general store, which features an enviable ice cream flavor selection. If fishing is your game, get your license, bait and tackle all in one spot.

    Redding RV Campgrounds

    • The town of Redding, about 20 miles south of Shasta Lake, offers the high-end Premier RV Resort. Located one block from Waterworks Park, the campground offers RV sites, tent sites, cabins and yurts. Adults get their own lounge, and pets have an off-leash area in which to roam. Pathways lead to the Sacramento River, a few blocks away. Or try Redding RV Park, which offers daily and weekly rates. This pet-friendly RV-only park features full hookups, a pool, recreation room and laundry. Beautifully landscaped Mountain Gate RV Park is closer to the town of Shasta Lake but sits in Redding. One of the unusual amenities at this park is its electric car charging bay. All three of these parks in the town of Redding are located off Interstate 5.
